Digital wellbeing speaker Katie Brockhurst
I spent twenty-five years working inside social media. Now I help people understand how their phones and AI are designed to hold their attention, and how to take it back.
I speak to schools, workplaces, festivals and conferences, online or in the room. My talks are honest, practical and interactive, grounded in the latest research, and built around a method people can remember and use: Scroll, Loop, Notice, Choose.
Why people book me
- Twenty-five years inside social media, from promoting DJs on MySpace to running my own social media agency and managing platforms for bestselling authors. I know how these platforms work from the inside.

- Published by Parliament. My written evidence on AI and EdTech is part of the House of Commons Education Committee's inquiry.
- Author of the Social Media for a New Age books, a Business Book Awards finalist.
- Award-winning. Gold at the Sony Radio Academy Awards, in the first ever Best Internet Programme category.
- Glastonbury Festival. I lead the digital team for The Common.
- Living it. I still get caught in Scroll Loops myself. I'm working on this every day, like everyone in the room.
Talks
The Attention Experiment: Scroll, Loop, Notice, Choose
For pupils, students, staff and general audiences
My signature talk. How phones and apps are designed to capture attention, what happens in the brain and body when we're caught in a loop, and a simple, memorable method to notice it and choose what happens next. Interactive and body-based, with movements for each stage that audiences carry home.

Scroll Loops cost time. Prompt Loops cost thinking. What happens when we hand our thinking over to AI, why chatbots can feel like friends, and how to use AI to support our thinking rather than replace it.

What people say
The pupils were captivated throughout, and posed some thought-provoking questions on this crucial issue affecting young people today.
Katie's sessions were excellent. Clear, engaging and thought provoking, with imaginative active exercises.
Before this week I was unconscious of my relationship with my phone and now I have awareness so I decide about scrolling.
As a teenager I find this really useful. Scroll loop notice choose is now my way of recognising when I am in a scroll loop.
